English language courses & tests

The British Council offer a 40 hour English for IELTS Academic course for 37,750 rupees in Colombo, Kandy and Jaffna. Alternatively we can find you an accredited pre-sessional course in the UK.

The British Council offer the IELTS exam for 42,900 rupees. IELTS is one of the secure English language tests (SELTs) required by the UK Home Office if you are studying below degree level, for which you need a test at level B1 and to score at least 4.0. At degree level colleges may accept an alternative to a SELT instead, but if you use IELTS it needs to be at level B2 with a score of at least 5.5 for the Home Office. Colleges may ask for a higher score especially for postgrad, especially MBAs.
